OrgPoll separates who voted from what they voted for at the database level. Admins see turnout numbers without seeing individual ballots — by design.
How church elections typically work with OrgPoll
Deacon election
A board nominates the deacon slate, you create an Election poll with admin-defined candidates, members vote during a one-week window, results post automatically when voting closes.
Elder election
Same shape as a deacon election — typically run with results set to AfterClose so the announcement happens at the next service rather than live during the vote.
Annual board vote
A congregational vote on next year's board — typically multiple positions with one or two contested seats. One Election poll covers the whole slate, with members voting once per position.
Common questions
Can the pastor see results?
Yes — for any poll you choose. Each poll has a visibility setting: Live (everyone sees results in real time), AfterClose (results visible once voting ends), or AdminOnly (only the pastor or admin sees results). You pick per poll.
Do we need absentee handling?
OrgPoll voting is online — members vote from anywhere they have a browser. There is no separate absentee workflow because there's no in-person ballot box. If a member can't vote during the open window, you can extend the close date as an admin.
Is voting anonymous?
Yes. The database stores that you voted on a given poll (to prevent double-voting), but it does not store which option you picked tied to your identity. This is a structural guarantee — see our /security page for the schema-level detail.
Can we import our roster from Planning Center?
Not yet. A Planning Center integration is on our roadmap. Email invites work well for most church boards (typically 30–200 members) — paste a list, members sign in, they're in your roster. If you need bulk roster sync before then, email hello@orgpoll.app and tell us how many members.
