How club elections typically work with OrgPoll
Annual officer election
Each fall the secretary opens an Election poll per office (president, vice-president, treasurer). Candidates are admin-defined from the slate, members vote during a one-week window, and the new officer roster is posted automatically when voting closes. Same poll structure works for a single combined ballot or one poll per seat — the secretary picks the shape.
Mid-year board motion
Between meetings, the board needs a quick vote on a charitable-gift recommendation or a meeting-time change. The chair opens an Election poll with two or three options, sets results visibility to AdminOnly while voting is active, and posts the outcome at the next meeting. No reply-all email thread, no "did you get my proxy?" follow-ups.
Member-wide opinion survey
Before a big decision (new venue, conference theme, dues change), send a Survey poll to the full member roster. Multi-question format, results visibility set to AfterClose, and you have a snapshot of where the membership stands before the next board meeting — without setting up a separate Google Form and chasing down email lists.
Common questions
Can we run a contested officer election with multiple seats?
Yes. Create one Election poll per office (president, treasurer, secretary, etc.) or one combined poll where members vote once per position. Candidates are admin-defined — you enter the slate, members vote, results post when voting closes.
Can we keep votes secret from non-board members?
Yes. Each poll has a results-visibility setting: Live (everyone sees the tally in real time), AfterClose (results appear once voting ends), or AdminOnly (only the board officers see results). You pick per poll — a sensitive bylaws vote can be AdminOnly while the social-event poll runs Live.
Do members need to install an app or create an account?
No app. Members get an email invite, sign in through the browser, and vote. They keep the same login for every future poll your club runs — and if they're on another board that uses OrgPoll, they use the same login there too.
Is voting anonymous?
Yes. The database stores that a member voted on a given poll (to prevent double-voting), but it does not store which option they picked tied to their identity. See our security page for the schema-level detail.
